Today, I am sharing some original samples that you may like? This post is actually a prequel to my next installment of the SOUNDNEXX SAMPLE LESSONS MIXX. Two of these samples were special requests by a few of my peoples, so I thought I would share them with everyone...
Freddie Scott - You Got What I Need ~ This sample was made famous by Biz Markie with his classic track "Just A Friend" back in the day.
Gary Byrd - Soul Travelin ~ This sample has been chipped apart by many producers in the past, but the most famous track to use it was Nasir's "Halftime" joint. I still remember when I first heard this classic joint on the 'Zebra Head' movie soundtrack back in the day. That's back when Nas still used the name Nasty Nas!
Jerry Butler - I'm Your Mechanical Man ~ This sample was made famous by Wu-Tang Clan's own Method Man on the track "Bring The Pain" from his debut album 'Tical' released in 1994.
Bill Withers - Rosie ~ This sample became popular when Kanye West used it on that "Roses" track off of his 'Late Registration' album.
Ronnie Laws - Tidal Wave ~ Can any of you folks guess who used this hot sample? There are two rap groups that I know of that used this joint, so lets see how musically inclined my SoundNexx visitors are.

I completely agree...Its a win-win situation for me too cuz;
1) I get to hear these amazing old songs/sounds that were way b4 my time.
2)I love finding the original songs and thinking "how on earth did he think of sampling that?"
There r some songs that r waaayy over sampled though, like "PYT" or "All night long"-MJ Girls. I mostly appreciate the ones that u gotta dig in the crated to find...Ya know!!!!
@Sasha - Yes, there is a definite knack that some producers have when it comes to picking quality samples for a hot beat. I love when a producer really flips a sample in a way where it's pretty much unrecognized by most. Folks like Premo, Dilla, J-Zone, Pete Rock, etc. are masters at that!
You are also right about using samples as a way find quality music from yesterday as well. I tell people all of the time, for every artist that you know about there are 30 more that you don't know about!
I agree with you about those over used samples too. I think James Brown is the most over used of all...LOL!
Dang, that "Tidal Wave" sounds really familiar...I have no clue:(
Is JZ one of the rappers 2 use it?
BLACK MOON "WHO GOT THE PROPS"
@Sasha - Ummm...no sweetie. :)
@Anony - Yes, sir or ma'am! What up wit the anonymous? U know we don't roll like that over here. ID yourself playa...LOL!
I just remembered another group so there are 3 groups that I know of that used that Wave sample. One is Black Moon, so there are two left...
I didnt think so...wild guess.
BTW,have u heard American ganster??? IMO its amazing... :)
@Sasha - Have I heard AG yet? Now, come on now, I heard it before Jay was finished making it...LOL! I'm enjoying it as well, but I have sooo much music that I haven't given it a FULL/EXTENSIVE listen just yet.
Oh yeah, and shame on you for bootlegging it too..LMAO! ;)
Dont judge me for downloading :)
I knew u heard it, I just needed confirmation...I heard it last week...
I definetly feel u about so much music, so little time, but I surely have time for this album...a few of my fave songs r "say hello", "american dream"(whats the Marvin sample on that one???)and "party life", Im not too fond of the LilWayne colab tho...
