IT'Z THE BIG DADDY KANE!
I am paying homage to some of my favorite MCs of all time! I am starting things off with Big Daddy Kane. King Asiatic Nobody's Equal (K.A.N.E.) was the first MC that really made me understand what the whole MC package was all about! BDK had the swagger, confidence, lyrics and attitude that made him one of the greatest MCs of his day. When I first heard the track, "Raw" by BDK in 1988, I couldn't believe how dope it was! That is still one of my favorite hiphop tracks of all time! But, the track that made Kane a legend in my eyes was Marley Marl's "The Symphony!" For those that have no clue about this track, here is a little history you should know. Back in the day, BDK was a major part of a click that called themselves "The Juice Crew." Members of the Juice Crew included, Marley Marl, MC Shan, Masta Ace, Craig G, Roxanne Shante, Kool G. Rap and BDK of course! The Juice Crew was no joke when it came to the lyrics. Kool G. Rap and Craig G were lyrical assassins on the mic by themselves, but when you add the other MCs to the mix it was an all out lyrical massacre! Even with all the talent presented on The Symphony track, BDK's bars stood out the most to me! When my man said, "Battling me is hazardous to your health/So, put a quarter in your ass because you played yourself," I became a loyal fan. The Symphony track has become the standard for hiphop posse tracks, but not many have lived up to this classic!

What I appreciated most about BDK was his ability to be a straight rhyme assassin on one track, and then turn around an become the ladies pimp on the next. Kane is what most of these so called MCs of today aspire to be! In my personal opinion, if there was no BDK, then there wouldn't have been a Jay-Z, Nas, or Biggie! Those are strong words, but I stand behind them! Kane has not been given the respect that he deserves as one of the best that ever did it! For you youngens that have no clue about the history of Big Daddy Kane, get familiar! For all you old heads that forgot about Kane, time to dig in the crates!!!!

Start with these two classics:

Nice lil' piece you did on Kane here. I'm the biggest Kane fan there is, and in my opinion, he is the greatest MC of all-time. I'm always looking for fans alike, as well as schoolin' peeps about him, that don't already know, or are too ignorant to acknowledge the old school/golden age of hip-hop and what it means to the culture. Join the Yahoo group I'm in, it's free, and it's all bout the King Asiatic...I'm bloggin w/ his girl at the moment, (Yes, Kane's shorty) and hopefully we will be networking with him there soon. Anyways, I'm actually going to his show this Thrusday here in the NYC, so it'll be dope, I'll let'cha know if you're interested, or just hit me up at the group, peace out!!

PS - Just click on my name, it'll take you to the group!
